MG Hector 2025: The 2025 MG Hector isn’t just another facelift, or minor update — it’s a considered evolution of a successful SUV that was already differentiated in terms of features and space.
Now, MG Motor India has raised the stakes a notch, tidying up the design, adding some more sophisticated tech and generally endowing the Hector with a more premium, classier feel.
With a sharper new face, a more feature-packed list, the updated Hector still aims for the same trio families, tech-heads, and long-route cruisers. It retains the same strong bedrock of comfort and presence, but with modern tweaks that keep the car fresh (and keep it the same step ahead, or at least abreast, in the case of some rivals).
MG Hector 2025 Bold Looks, Bigger Presence
The Hector 2025 is huge and the first thing that you will see is that massive diamond printed grille, flanked by fancy LED DRLs and split headlamp units. This time around, MG has opted for a more mature, imposing look for the Hector and it adds a wider, road-hugging stance that looks premium from every angle.
The rear, too, gets stylish with connected LED tail lamps and the Hector lettering on the boot.
There’s no doubt it still feels large and in charge; surface area is very much an advantage with this car. No matter if you opt for the 5-seater or the 6/7-seater Hector Plus version, the SUV gives off an overtone of a full-size premium SUV.
Inside: Techfest Meets Another Level of Comfort
Space has been warm more inviting in 2025’s that MG. Hop inside, and you’re immediately faced with a gargantuan 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system — that’s one of the largest in the segment.
Now its snappier, more intuitive navigation and it features wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The dash receives soft-touch materials, dual-tone theme, and chrome touches, and the overall feel of the car feels more upmarket now.
Space remains a strong suit for the Hector — wide, supportive seats, an accommodating second row, and an optional third row that’s good for small journeys.
Also adding to its luxury quotient is the addition of features such as ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof, a 7-inch fully digital instrument cluster and even ambient lighting with multiple colour options.
Power and Performance to Finish the Job
Powerplants continue to be a pair of proven engines – a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and 2.0-litre diesel. The turbo-petrol is smooth and refined (available with a CVT or 6-speed manual too), but for people that actually enjoy the act of driving it doesn’t quite fit the bill.
The diesel, also from Fiat, delivers ample mid-range grunt and is just perfect for highway cruising.
Neither engine is particularly performance-oriented so much as comfort-tuned for long-distance touring – just like a Hector should be.
The suspension is still on the softer side, so balancing off road and city riding is plush while the bike can feel a bit floaty at higher speeds or in the twisties.
The steering is light — a help around town, but it betrays a sporting message.
Safety First
MG has clearly put plenty of thought into safety. The Hector will now receive Level 2 ADAS features in higher variants — which means you get adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, automatic emergency braking, and more.
Couple that with 6 airbags, ESC, hill hold assist and a 360-degree camera, and you’ve got one of the safest cars in its class.
Pros:
Long list of impressive features; now includes the best infotainment screen in the segment
Upscale cabin materials and design
Great room and comfort inside
Petrol and diesel engines are smooth and torquey
Level 2 ADAS brings elite safety tech to the masses
New Styling Road dominating stance
Good after-sales service and connectivity through i-SMART
Cons:
Petrol lacks punch under heavy load
Squishy suspension can be floaty at freeway roos.
No AWD available, even AWD-lite stance, no dice.
Diesel is available in manual only (no auto)
A bit much for some: Interior is very tech-heavy
MG Hector 2025 Final Verdict
The MG Hector 2025 remains one of the most value-rich SUVs that you can buy in India.
It’s not chasing lap times or playing at being sporty; it’s instead emphaszing what buyers really care about: space, comfort, a premium feel, and a ton of coddling features.
If you want a large, stylish, and well-equipped SUV that also has some genuine presence on the road, the new Hector it tough to ignore.
Purists may not like it, but it’s a fine all-rounder for families and tech-lovers that packs in a whole lot of SUV for the money.
